Event Management, Under2Coalition
COP26

We were delighted and proud to work with Under2Coalition and the Scottish Government to provide production of their COP26 Gala Dinner at Stirling Castle in November 2021.

With a guest list of influential figures from around the world, this event was another critical moment in the COP26 programme to bring together decision makers and influencers to continue the negotiations for a climate deal.

Under2Coalition were celebrating excellence in the fight against climate change and a section of our stage programme was the production of an awards ceremony. Recognising leaders in the drive to limit global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius, three inaugural awards were presented during the dinner.

Stirling Castle is an inspiring venue for events and in our experience, less is more for production. Our plan was to use light to generate both atmosphere and visually impactful messaging to convey the themes of the night.

In the Great Hall, we used LED uplighting to pick out the features of the hall, using light and shade to create a dramatic scene as guests entered the room. Using the green of the U2C brand, we worked to ensure that guests were immediately impacted by the drama of the room.

To convey messaging, we installed large lightboxes on stage. These provided both brand projection, a feature for guests to focus on and a stunning backdrop for speakers and the awards ceremony.

Those two lightboxes framed a large rear projection screen. The screen afforded us a dynamic content space to present the action of the night. Built within a custom frame, we raised the screen high to make it instantly and easily visible to every guest.

Accelerating the transition to Net Zero is important to us as a business.

Not only are we on our own journey to minimise our carbon footprint, we produce our own conference Net Zero Scotland which brings together protagonists to drive the pace of change.

Finally, we used a simple speaker set up to spread sound around the room. The acoustics in the hall are fantastic and our focus was to ensure that speeches were amplified accurately so no wording was missed.

The night was spectacular. Guests were treated to an address to the Haggis (vegan of course) and the evening was rounded off with a Beating of the Retreat.

We really enjoyed working on this project. Our clients Under2Coalition and the Scottish Government were terrific, and we felt proud to be able to contribute to the race to Net Zero.
