CASE STUDY

Virtual Event Management, VisitScotland
Programme Launch

In Spring 2021 the world was getting to grips with COVID-19 and vaccine programmes across the planet were kicking in, giving the travel industry light at the end of the tunnel.

We worked with our client VisitScotland who were launching their new programme Journey to Change, a marketing and engagement project to reposition Scotland’s business tourism for a new future.

Early discussions identified quickly that social distancing restrictions would still be in place and therefore the most effective and impactful event would be best staged online.

And working with our partners Vision Events, we designed an online launch event which gave us the flexibility to bring together presenters and an audience from across the globe.

We built a stage set to host the event studio style from Scotland. Contributors were programmed to join us live using video conferencing tools. And a video produced for the event was broadcast to viewers.

And with the benefit of holding a digital event, with limited editing we were able to make the entire event available to watch on demand within hours!

VisitScotland were delighted with the event, achieving a large audience and garnering praise for the content and the production values.

Tourism and hospitality is being hit hard by the pandemic.

It is inspiring working with VisitScotland and tourism businesses to see how they are meeting the challenges head on.

As we get to grips with the pandemic, the return of in person meetings and events has been a welcome relief. However, events like this one have taught us that we have flexibility to extend the reach and value of events by using broadcast technology.

No one type of event is needed now. Instead, we work with clients to create hybrid options based on achieving objectives – maximising the reach – over the practicalities of social distancing.
